The Bidwell Marriott Portland

One of my favorite places to stay when in Portland! Lovely, clean, and modern hotel in a great location to get anywhere in Portland and with great food / cafes around. The service is absolutely lovely - really nice people who seem to genuinely care, like Cory from the lounge. The lounge is great too - appreciate the variety of snacks available and the delicious hot breakfast (especially those chocolate croissants)! The rooms are spacious and have everything you need plus a little more personality and color than a classic all white hotel room. 10/10 recommend!

Check in was very easy. We opted not to use valet, which we regret because our car got broken into in a parking garage but we knew was a risk. The hotel upgraded our room which was a nice surprise so we got a view of the city. Rooms and rest of the hotel were clean, service in the restaurant was amazing and so was the food. Prices were to be expected. Liked that you had to have a room key in order to use the elevator. The location is downtown which has some pros and cons. We did not use the fitness center, but wished they had a hot tub or spa. We knew going in they did not, but would have been nice. Overall, we enjoyed our stay.

I come to Portland every year, and The Bidwell is so far the best hotel I've stayed in. The property is very modern, having been just updated recently. Everywhere is clean and everything works. I upgraded to a high floor corner room. Lots of windows and a terrific view. The room is very modern and slightly stark. It's a retro Scandinavian aesthetic. But everything is modern and efficient and it works. Plenty of power and USB outlets in the right places. Good tasteful furniture. TV is comically huge. Bed is comfortable, with some of the best pillows I've ever experienced at a Marriott. My status and reservation gives me access to the M Club. I like the breakfast better than some other reviewers. It's true that there aren't many food options, but what they serve is perfect. No other Marriott has bacon this good. And the M Club room itself is tasteful, comfortable, and uncrowded. But the real star of the show is the M Club attendant Pedro. It has been many years since I've been helped by someone this friendly and hard working. Pedro made everyone in the breakfast room feel welcome and taken care of. I want to be clear about this: even though the Bidwell is a very nice hotel, Pedro is too good for this place. He could easily be helping guests at a much fancier property. I hope management knows what they have in this guy. I was thinking of staying at the new Ritz Carlton on my next visit, but the Bidwell is so nice I might return here instead. Hopefully by then Pedro will be running the place.
